Matthew Burril Statement on Joe Biden’s Energy Crisis

Tonight, Matthew Burril, candidate for Congress in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, issued the following statement on Joe Biden’s energy crisis.

“On January 20, 2021, his first day in office, Joe Biden signed an executive order to revoke permits for the Keystone XL Pipeline and put a temporary moratorium on oil and gas leasing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

President Biden and his mysterious handlers wanted all fossil fuels to go away.

They instead pursued politically driven Green New Deal initiatives, designed to appease the radical left wing of the Democrat Party. Joe Biden threw out the window the energy independence we enjoyed 15 months ago, and drove the price of oil 115% higher over the last 12 months.

Today, Ukrainians are dying and fleeing their homes to escape Putin’s bombings. America’s prayers are with these fearless victims.

I agree the United States must pressure Vladimir Putin to end his invasion by removing his access to capital and economic resources. Eliminating purchases of Russian oil cuts off his last remaining source of income.

This will be painful for Americans at the pump. But it didn’t have to be this way.

Had Joe Biden chosen American energy independence instead of appeasing the radical liberal wing of his party, we could have pulled the plug on Putin’s oil revenues without inflicting the hardship of higher gas prices on American consumers.

As I have said from the very start of my campaign for Congress, Joe Biden’s domestic policy failures and foreign policy blunders have weakened our Nation.

Sadly, we today are seeing yet another example of Joe Biden’s misguided leadership.”
